ClearFi

Our calculation methodology

Reviewed by James Wilson, CFP | Last reviewed April 2026

Every number ClearFi shows you is based on standard financial formulas used by certified financial planners and major financial institutions. Here's exactly how each tool works.

Our principles

Transparency

We show our work. Every formula we use is documented here so you can verify our calculations independently.

Standard formulas

We use industry-standard financial formulas — the same ones used by banks, financial advisors, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Conservative estimates

Where assumptions are required, we err on the side of caution. We would rather show you a slightly harder truth than a misleadingly optimistic result.

Regular review

Our calculation methodology is reviewed periodically to ensure accuracy and compliance with current financial standards.
